Andrew Bell
There's a few AB threads around here but I think he deserves his own in the artist section.
From VP-
Awesome. Andrew Bell’s Glop in a Box resin set from mphlabs hits the cute yet slightly disturbing vibe just right. As cool as Glop looks outside his box, he looks great in the box as well where his chin flows over the edges. Glop stands 4.5” tall and is almost nearly as wide (svelte, he is not). This first Biohazard edition features hand-embellished chases – call ‘em ‘dirt’y featuring black grime and brown boxes instead of the standard gray. Glop in a box will drop from the myplasticheart booth (#2879) complete with signed packaging in the cultyard @ NYCC for $90. Hit the jump for more pics.
“A box showed up on my doorstep one afternoon. This is not an altogether unusual experience, boxes show up at my studio all the time. But when I bent down to pick it up I noticed there was something different about this particular package. The box itself was bulging, a viscous fluid was slowly leaking from the bottom, and the whole thing had a distinct musty smell. I leaned closer to read the return address on the shipping label, and that’s when it started moving…”
I love it. $90 for the piece might seem a little steep but it's still a nice big piece of resin. If I was guaranteed the hand painted chase I'd be tryin to grab one for sure

Re: Andrew Bell
That's not a bad price at all, considering that it's resin and the size of his fan base. I think it's on the cheap side, actually.

No doubt this bad boy will sell out quick. For me personally I wouldn't pay 90$ for it just because i'm broke lol

Wish I could. I actually met him today @ Roto while picking up my recently purchased Kozik pieces.

Awesome show. I wish I coulda picked up one of the watchers but they were gone by time I saw the preview list. So badass.
Still picked up one of these sweet plush critters though. Love it.

Re: Andrew Bell
I couldn't make it to the opening because I had to DJ, but I went to see it and I have to say that Roto and AB KILLED it. There was a fucking pit full of plush that you could jump (well, not JUMP jump) into if you took off your shoes. The whole show was fantastic. I picked up the Worrible plush pictured above, as well as both the black and the red Watchers. I had to, and the day after I got back from vacation. That really hurt.

theres been many attempts at doing sofvi in American. the fact that it is hazardous and some of the materials are considered unsafe, really gets in the way. Also, it is hard to import vinyl into the country since it is a petrol product. All that said, this is not the first one of its kind and I wish I had more time to explain, but its nothing that google cant help find.
Either way, it looks fine, and one can only hope that American producers can get production here. Would that be a good thing or a bad thing? who knows.
One thing I do know is that not so long ago, sofvi was considered cheap and of lesser quality than other vinyl producing methods.
Times change I guess.
Re: Andrew Bell
man i want that MFC. Im wondering if the coin will be noticeable in the production or if they are fixing that? maybe why its taken so long?
