Ha something tells me it'll be fine since it doesn't get stretched.  Laughing
I'm done with hot toys after the elder tho. I don't think they deserve collector's money any more.

You were right to return it no matter what the price.
If HT is going to make the same dumb mistake again but worse they don't deserve to sell toys any more.

Picked up the exclusive Mondo 1/6 TMNT Leonardo today. Subscription option for the rest of the turtles was a mess tho.
Their Iron Giant figure looks pretty awesome too.

Oh god I really want that Iron Giant! I loved that movie to death. My first thought was: 'OH MY GOD I NEED THIS! I NEED THREE OF THEM!'

And my second thought was: 'Oh. Not at that price, I don't.' It's $300 without shipping and Mondo has a reputation for high shipping rates, so it will probably run collectors closer to $350. For that much you can order this beast from Threezero:

More accessories, likely better articulation, definitely better paint apps, and a super-detailed 1/12-scale pilot that fits inside the mech. I know which one I'd get.

Good on you ordering Leo though; he looks like an excellent figure. Did you end up subscribing?

Whoa, that's a neat figure. Dunno much about it tho but I sure do love robots! Speaking of robots, anyone remember a movie called Robojocks from waaay back in the day?!?

There was a mess with the subscription so I wasn't able to score one unfortunately, even tho I jumped on immediately after receiving the tweet about the release. I'll have to buy individually at each drop and hope I can score the exclusives. Couple things I dislike about Mondo, no combined shipping... $20/figure for the turtles, so you'll end up paying $80 alone for shipping not to mention for those who missed out on the subscription won't receive the extra $10 discount on each piece so that's another $40! Adds up...
After seeing a follow-up pic regarding the size of the turtles, I'm kinda questioning my order and am unsure if I wanna get the rest or even keep my current order. I wanted them bigger than the NECA release but damn I didn't realize 1/6 would be THAT big. Seems a bit odd having such a big turtle lol. Hopefully it'll grow on me.

I want to get at least two. Financial situation is a little uncertain at the moment, though, so I might hold off. Still, actually getting several for a reasonable price would let me experiment with customs without fear of ruining an expensive figure I can never replace.

I keep hearing they are hands down the best articulation on a 1/6 body, but I'm not digging their style Rolling Eyes

Copied and pasted from a long post I made on the Sideshow forums:

The body is very well-made. All the joints are firm but not stiff, and everything has a large range of motion, especially without any clothing to inhibit it. The arm, for example, is attached at the shoulder to another joint that moves up and downward, so you have the normal ball-jointed shoulder articulation PLUS up/down motion that mimics the natural extension of your back muscles when you lift your arm up high. And that joint is embedded in a horizontal swivel in the chest, so a cut-out section of the figure's chest can also swing in and out. Because the original Synth and the CaRB are naked, engineering like that actually improves the aesthetics of the toy. The bodies look like very believable androids because they actually do move like real people..

The excellent articulation is part of what gives the figures such great balance. When you're moving around, your core will bend and flex to facilitate that movement and the Synths work the same way: my CaRB's abs are split into three individual segments that I can tweak around to help the figure balance. The rest is probably down to weight distribution, which I don't have any specialist knowledge of. That's it; for me it boils down to each figure being able to achieve a huge range of really expressive poses, and the marriage of function and form in the joint engineering.

All that^^ is why I'm going to be buying these. Most poses are totally viable without a stand, and that ab section really is awesome. The only figure from the line I've actually played with a lot is the CaRB (black one with the mask), and it can do a stable handstand despite having super-freaky twisted hands. The one fault I can think of is that these are a little shorter than normal 1/6-scale figures, so all accessories bought online might not work.
