After a while the whininess of the lead singer's voice just get to the point where it can't be ignored.
I have been listening to a lot of older stuff lately.
Thre Days Grace
Days of the New
Throttlerod
Soundgarden
Silverchair
Pearl Jam
etc, etc.
Also in rotation at any given time are Flobots, Linkin Park, Poison the Well, Counting Crows, Tangerine Dream (old old), Optimus Rhyme, Foo Fighters and whatever else fits what mood I am in.
For the most part I try to stay away from the super-over-processed stuff most pop bands dish out these days. I like strong voices not synthesizers.
Is that Flobots any good? I've heard a couple they play on sirius and I like it so far.
I like them. Their ryhmes are pretty decent, they have good beats and a steady flow.
A lot of the stuff on the album is not like what gets played on the radio. The band is extrememly political and has a lot of cuts and dubs from speaches and such . Still over-all I find the album to be an enjoyable one.

If you're into Clutch, have you heard any of the RED FANG stuff? There's a great video on youtube.

Ive said it before and I will say it again....KISS...most over rated band ever?! If I was teen in the 70's maybe I would be down. But looking back Im not a fan.

I saw them when I was 7 at the Salt Lake City Palace 1978!!! My brothers took me to see them since I was a lil KISS fan. Came home deaf and full of confetti. Ahh to be REALLY young.

Aphex Twin has great videos! Very disturbing sometimes, but great. That dudes face has been known to give people nightmares!
Re: Music Thread
The video for "Come to Daddy" is one of the most distressing things ever put on film. Loved "Windowlicker" as well.

Re: Music Thread
Hahaha, so true. They really ought to change the name of the channel. I remember the good old days of "120 Minutes." it was our Sunday night ritual from ten to midnight.

i always stayed up for 120 min., and usually ended up watching headbangers ball with my brother.
Back then even the few shows they did have were still about music. I haven't watched Mtv for ages.

Re: Music Thread
Just got back from the Depeche Mode show......I found it truly amazing. Then again I've seen almost every tour since Music for the Masses.
Re: Music Thread
i was dragged to go see American Idol Live....
FYI it's just as bad as you would think it to be.....
my ears still hurt from when the little teeny boppers started screeching when adam lambert came out (haha, not like that)
but for real.... $25 parking is probably the biggest crock of shit i've ever seen....

Re: Music Thread
has anyone checked out the new love and rockets tribute New Tales to Tell? i've only heard the Blaqk Audio cover of No new tale to tell and its pretty good. I'm wondering if the album is worth it. The fact that Shepard Fairey did the art work somehow makes me desire it less?

ha! I didn't even know this was out. This coming from the guy who chased Daniel Ash & David J to sign his Bubblemen 12". I'd like to check it out.

yeah, I've seen them a few times. The Express show opening for the Cure at dodger stadium in LA was epic. Bauhaus and Tones on Tail will always be the heart of my musical inspiration.
