Re: little misfortune
I think the MFC's are quite limiting in their disign, it's more like a sculpture than a toy for me.
But hey, as long as it looks good

Yeah I agree. But it is an awesome sculpture
And think about it, what do you really do with your BUDs, Nades & Squadts.
Sure you can pose them all a little, but they aren't really made for "play" the way a more mainstream toy is.
Man I wish there were MFC blanks. They look like a very promising platform for customs.

I think this is a very interesting question.
What's a toy What's art What's....
If the MFC's were made out of porcelain/clay it would probably be a sculpture and not a toy.
So what about the steel Sqube
If you told people you're collecting plastic sculptures would the reaction be any different from when you tell them you're collecting toys

I don't think my comment ventured into perilous territory of defining art or anything. My comment was just to say that BUDS & Squadts don't hold up very well to robust playing. And in fact, they are not toys, since it says so explicitly on the outside of the boxes (at least, of all the larger toys)
I do not know if Jamungo/Playge toys are art. I do know they are quite creative and totally awesome though!
Also the realm of sculpture isn't limited to certain materials. Plastic is no more or less valid than say porcelain or marble. And you can make legitimate sculpture out of anything that can hold a form.
I mainly display my BUDs & Nades because I find their form enjoyable and I like a lot of the artwork that is printed on the surface of the toys. I display my Squadts and MFCs for similar reasons. I don't know if they are art exactly but they fit my personality very well.
And as for the steel Sqube... the only thing I really have to say is that while it may be a cool sculptural object, it is definitely a lot of money for something that is 1" square.
Re: little misfortune
So maybe I'm just sleeping on this, I don't know... can't seem to find the answers...
The Munky King Misfortune exclusive (black / gold) - was this the 4" or the smaller version?
What's going on with the smaller version? Will this still be a blind box release (keychains?) and when will it be hitting?
Is there talk of a 4" artists series? If so, will this be some kind of blind box thing or will it be coming in waves?
Any answers would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Re: little misfortune
munkykings exclusive was a 4" ..there will be other 4"ers (artist versions w/custom sculpts) coming in 2011.
I want to do the 2.5" versions as well ..probably blind box and priced as such. these will be treated as platforms....probably no custom sculpts for these.

Re: little misfortune
thanks for the reply, Ferg
any artists currently confirmed for the 4" series?
And, with the micro-misfortunes... since it will be BB, I assume you're thinking of different colorways, artists, etc. - as with the BUD releases?
Any ideas of the timing of this potential release vs. SKLLBD 2.0 vs. micro-SQUADT vs. BUDS s4?

yes the first three to be released are by Andrew Bell, Jason Siu and Chris Ryniac and then more after that...
the schedule for the releases you mentioned is yet to be determined. i can tell you Skllbuds 2.0 will be first.

Re: little misfortune
Will there be more blank white and black 2.5 Misfortunes or are the ones that came with the Munkyking exclusive the only one that are going to be manufactured?
