Huge huge huge favor... Empty Huge huge huge favor...

Post  gua_ping Wed Jun 02, 2010 3:20 pm

Hi guys...

I know this is a shot in the dark...
And i know this has absolutely nothing to do with C&D or Jamungo or Toys even...
But... You are the only guys I know who could help me and who I trust...
Here's the story...
I'm sure you've heard about the Verizon Droid Incredible...
If not, check it out...
I'm really drooling all over this phone...
Problem is, I live in Taiwan and the only way I could get one of these is if I buy it in the US...
I need someone from the US to help me check out the price and probably buy me one...
I need it UNLOCKED... Meaning, you have to buy ONLY the phone... no subscription... no line...
I will use my own SIM when I get it...

Please help me out will ya?

Thanks...

If you are going to go with an unlocked cell phone, buy an HTC EVO off of eBay.
Both phones cost $450 outside of contract, but the EVO is pretty much an upgraded Incredible. The EVO has been popping up a fair amount on eBay since the GoogleIO (they were a door prize) even though the official release of the phone isn't until Friday. Both phones are set up to use a CDMA network.

They are pretty much the same phone, but anything the Incredible can do, the EVO can do better. Smile

Who still uses CDMA networks? I thought 80% of the world was using GSM/UMTS

Verizon and Sprint both use CDMA.
They are two of the 3 largest carriers in the United States.

Verizon and Sprint are also the only carriers that offer the Incredible and EVO respectively.

Can't wait for that EVO! Got mine on hold at the Sprint store to pick it up Saturday... worked out perfect since my T-mo contract is up on Friday. sqube

I am breaking my current Sprint contract in order to upgrade to the EVO. I contact Sprint support and even though I don't qualify for a full discount since I am only a year into my contract, they are gonna give me the phone at the $199 new contract price and not charge any ETF fees or setup fees for upgrading my current account to the EVO Data plan.

Honestly I have never been this excited about a phone before Smile

Both Verizon and Sprint use CDMA. Both the Incredible and EVO are CDMA phones.
Right now the only phone worth owning that uses GSM is the iPhone. But I guarantee that HTC will release a version of the Incredible on AT&T sooner or later. The two largest carriers that use GSM in the U.S. are AT&T and T-mobile.

I wish that Apple would release an iPhone for somebody other than AT&T. I have a 1st generation iPhone that I cracked so I could use it on T-Mobile. Love the phone, but I refuse to switch to AT&T.
