I am a newbie with under 100 posts and would understand if I wasn't yet indoctrinated into the C&D forumn. I'm still a pyle because, although I read the forumn multiple times a day, I don't post unless I actually have something to add. Some of these people signed up, posted 5 smiley faces, and put there name in the drawing all in under an hour.

well, we've all been noobs before and they should still get a chance. there is only one name on that list that I think is questionable and that person joined yesterday. maybe in the future, the qualifications should be a minimum number of posts AND been signed up for the boards at least a month. That being said, if these get flipped, we should eviscerate the flipper and ban that IP address from the site.

That being said - Maybe a higher minimum amount of posts + a minimum amount of time, would be a good idea to qualify for this.

I think that contests can bring people into the forum that just creep around and don't want to post - to me the more people participating the better.

I agree that it is annoying to have newbs sign up to enter a contest and disappear immediatley after the contest is over.

But I think Ferg does these kind of giveaways as an incentive for people to join up and check out the forumn as well as reward his loyal subjects. Whenever you do something like this you will always get 50 people joining up, and only 2-3 people sticking around. But in the end you did get 2-3 people to stick around.

The 50 post thing would just mean more people would start smiley threads and reply to themselves 49 times. And restricting the contests to people who have been members a month wouldn't gaurantee that they were active members. There are plenty of people who have been signed up for months or years and have zero posts. Also it would make our community seem more elitist than we already are, which might be a put-off to newbs who want to participate.
