I am here I just don't have a lot of Jamungo news to talk about.
I am working on a new custom, and I will start an "in progress" post in the Customs section when I get a chance to take some pics.

This is why we need some general talk forums (and a general Art forumn, please! Smile), so that we can fill the space between major Jamungo news with random community stuff.

I have noticed that a lot of the larger Jamungo pieces have seen some noticeable price drops recently.

The Lindsey Kuhn is now going for around $20 (down from $50?) I got mine for $16.
The Jamungo x ThreeZero is dropping slowly in price. I got mine for $60 (down from $100) but I have see it a lot for around $75
The Kozik Ultraviolence is going for around $80 now, down from $100 and a far drop from the $150 signedbykozik used to charge for it.

Even CrappyCat is starting to decline in price. On eBay and in some stores you can find it for $60, $5 less than retail, and I have seen them as low as $55. I think soon (2 months?) they will be down into the mid-high $40s.

Also the BOTM releases are reselling pretty cheap, since the edition size was increased.
None of the recent BOTMs should cost you more than $10 retail if you look around for them.

The SDCC Anarchy A was overpriced anyway IMHO. You weren't getting a lot for your $100 unless perhaps you are a huge Kozik fan.

I don't know if the economy is scaring people away, so that they are saving their money instead of indulging their vinyl collecting addictions or whether the whole vinyl market is just in a cooling-off period right now. I know that I have seen people complaining a lot about the declining collectibility of recent vinyl fogures due to increasing edition sizes and quality control issues. Also colorways are just killing the market. Why would I pay $100 for a pink A, when right down the road the Black and the Red Splattered version (both of which are cooler IMO) are gonna pop out around $40 each? Also for a lot of people, if they like a design they are likely to get it in a non-exclusive color and enjoy it, rather than putting down a large sum of money on a little hunk of plastic in a "limited" colorway. Not everyone who buys vinyl is addicted to it enough to blow out tons of money for the exclusives.

At the moment I think we are in a situation where you really have to decide if you love the product before you spend the money on it, because it is hard to determine whether you will be able to get your investment back should you choose to sell. Buy the toys for yourself, because you like them a lot, and don't plan of flipping it.

If you are buying something you only kind-of like, with the thought that you can sell it on eBay for about what you paid for it if it doesn't live up to your expectations, maybe you should just be saving your money until you are sure that you want something.

If my recent collecting has taught me. you will ALWAYS be able to find what you want no matter how limited it is. I got my Red SDCC Jamungo x ThreeZero for a fair price just because someone bought it and decided they no longer really liked it. As soon as the budscription boxes hit the 'scribers I expect a ton more stuff I want to hit the 'bay for me to pick up.

There's always an ebb and flow to collecting. The economy is forcing some people to hold on tighter to their wallets. I'll be the first to agree that the Pink Anarchy was too expensive. I bought it anyway, but I knew that the price would drop. Not worried, still like it, and I'll still buy them all. And yes the other colorways are much cooler. Still had to have the pink though. Razz

As far as colorways are concerned, it's true that multiples frequently lower the resale prices. Some people like to be completists, and too many colorways make a very expensive set. However, from the business side of things, colorways are the only way to make your money back on a toy, and more colorways make prices on individual figures more reasonable at retail. Toy molds are quite expensive to make, sometimes tens of thousands of dollars, from what I've heard. That price has to be passed on to the customer. Look at how expensive Kaiju is. Small runs, expensive figures.

This is why I am eager for more 3in BUDs above anything else. I love my CrappyCat (and hope to pick up the red one soon), but I think that the BUD is a perfect platform because with BUDs you can use the same molds over & over again, but still come out with interesting and unique toys that look great and are collectible not only because they are limited, but also because they have some great designs on them by different artists.
