I'm going to post stupid shit people say since I dj a good 200+days a year. My current residency is at Blue Martini, where I swallow any underground pride and sell my soul to pop music for a decent living. It's a high end martini bar/club, basically a cougar and douchebag bar.

I feel your pain, Mendez. I have that exact conversation at least 3 times a night. People hear an artist they like, and WHILE IT'S PLAYING they run up to me to ask me to play ANOTHER song by the same artist NEXT..

And when the floor is packed and we're in the heat of it, some dumbass inevitably will run up and ask for some ridiculous fucking song that I know full well will clear the floor guaranteed.. then they get all butt-hurt like I'm being a prick. IT IS MY FUCKING JOB TO PACK THE FLOOR AND KEEP IT PACKED. Your request is exactly that: A request. If you want it now, go find a fucking jukebox.

I want people to have a good time, and I have to fucking play Katy Perry and the Black Eyed Peas, and I die a little bit inside every time I do. The last thing I need is some fucking idiot trying to talk my ear off about how everyone would go apeshit if I played the fucking Cupid Shuffle. No they wouldn't, dumbass, and if I played it, once you saw it clear the floor YOU WOULDN'T BE OUT THERE EITHER. You are drunk and/or high, and I do this for a living.
