Starting a New Custom: The Budmarine!
I have been very busy @ work & home, so although I have had the materials for a little while I haven't had the time to do any customs. I have 4 or 5 planned, and I have the BUDs for them, I just don't have enough time. Very Sad.
Having said this I have finally made a start on a custom 3"er that I have been wanting to do for a while.
I will post my sketches later if people want but for now here is what I started with, and where I am going:
Ready for prime & paint!
Base coloring finished!
Some detail colors. The windows are painted white because I plan to draw a scene into them, and then paint the scene.
Still a lot of detail paint to do.

Re: Starting a New Custom: The Budmarine!
I finally put up another progress pic. I actually forgot to take pics between the first photo and this one, so I missed a step, but it was basically just cleaning up the work I had done earlier, just like the new additions will need to be cleaned up.
Sorry for the slow progress, but I have just been burnt out at work, which makes me not want to work on anything when I get home.
I have, however, decided upon a name:

Another update. I have actually done 3 or 4 sculpting sessions on this figure since the last update. A couple to add new elements, and a few more to clean up the addition of those additions.
All of the major elements are in place and now the toy is ready for priming & for me to start painting.

Actually yes. I have a few more pictures of painting in progress that I have to put up. I will probably do so tonight.
Re: Starting a New Custom: The Budmarine!
I missed a pic of the toy primed and waiting to be painted, but I am too lazy to go find out which camera it is on
Here is a picture of the toy with the base color & texture in place. So many people have been doing rust recently that although I was originally inclined to go in that direction I chose instead to go my own way. I made fairly nice use of my new airbrush and several thin coats of bright yellow and metallic copper paints.
Next I am going to go in with some brushes and oil enamels and paint in the details but I am still working out exactly what I want to do.

Yes, and I will try to post pics later today.
I have just been being killed at work and haven't had much motivation to work on this project when I get home.

Re: Starting a New Custom: The Budmarine!
Here is another pic finally.
This is just the "base coat" of the detail paints. There is still a lot of detail to be added but I just have not had the time lately. Hopefully I will be able to finish this one up soon after X-mas.

Hmm, they are all still showing up for me. I am using the forum hosting and not my own server.
Does anyone else not see the pics?

Oh man, sorry!
All of the pics will be added to the first post along with a little progress blurb in order to keep everything together
The pics are in order from start to (eventually) finish, top to bottom of the first post. Any other posts by me in this thread are pretty much my replying to comments/questions posted by everyone else.
