scientifik glass- new work- Dunny halo/e-cig dome
hello CAD! I thought it was finally time that I officially introduced myself. My name is mike and I've been hooked on almost everything playge since I got in on my first drop, germ s003 NUUK. I've been a bicycle mechanic since I was in high school and also dabbled in wood working and auto mechanics among other things. Basically I've been interested in anything hand crafted, from mechanical watches to firearms and hondas. Three years ago my love for working with my hands led me to discover a new hobby/career, scientific glassblowing (hence my username). I spent two years studying the manufacturing of many types of glass apparatus and learned many other lamp working techniques along the way aswell. Now I've been applying what I know to make glass figurines for myself to put in my collection! This'll be where I continue to post my progression and updates of my collection. Here is my first attempt of a more basic young gohst that I made last night. I didn't have one on hand so I made it from memory and after bringing it home to my parents where my collection is I realized that my proportions are off. So the story for this guy is that he's a baby gohst and he hasn't quite filled out yet, nor has he lost his smooth baby teeth and grown in his sharp adult teeth. Also his tongue hasn't dropped yet lol. Peep the air trap pupils too ;)The next iterations will be more true to size and will be more colorful. Picture brainssss! Anyways sorry if this post seemed all over the place... Now on to the pictures...

Oops I forgot to answer your question, but basically I have a large shed with a work bench on one side. I've got enough space for my kiln and plenty of space for my torch and glass prep. There's also fire resistant cement board covering everything and vents in the ceiling to keep it from getting stuffyitsa_mia wrote:

I love your young gohst... if you ever considered making small YG heads, say that could be strung up and worn as a charm... (with Ferg's permission, of course), I'd be on that like a dirty shirt! OR, would make one hell of a christmas ornament!

Thanks Angie! I'm glad I'm not the only one who likes to see toys in glass form. I've definitely been tossing the idea of making some pendants. I've kinda been figuring that I'm not really stepping on any toes(ferg, please correct me if wrong) since I'm not mass producing or attempting to pull collectors away from vinyl to glass. If there isn't any issues with people customizing toys to sell , makin them from scratch in a new medium seems fair game to me. But, I could be wrong... On the ornament note, I usually make some every year , although they haven't been squadt or YG related. That might have to change this year, good idea Angie

I enjoy toy made in glass, or clear resin, etc.
Having a clear/transluscent toy open a lot of photography possibilities.
