somewhere on the forums this was discussed before. If memory serves me correctly you can get insurance on your collect but it needs to be treated as any other art piece and appraised by a specialist who places a value on your collection. Depending on how valueable the insurance each month could go from 10-100$ on top of what you already pay.

Normal homeowners insurance only covers a limited amount of personal property coverage. If you have a large collection you definitely want to increase your personal property limits with your insurance company and they may or may not ask you to get the items appraised (depends on the company).

The most important thing that you can do right now is to take pictures of ALL of your collection. Without proof of ownership you can get screwed.

Saraswati about nailed it. it is covered by your home owners personal property, as long as the amount you are covered for is actually enough to cover your actual losses. I don't know if that would cover theft however, you might want to check.

To be sure you are fully covered it would be best to get a policy just for your collection. its been a while, but i wanna say its ~$100/yr premium per $10,000 of coverage.

well looks like im gonna be sitting on hold for awhile.. thanks alot everyone..

i was able to get in touch with my homeowners insurance.. All i need to do is take pictures on each piece, give a description , price and what its worth each item.. Anything over 3k i need a appraiser , which sucks bc i got a 4fter and i have no fucking idea how to get someone out here that knows anything about vinyl and give me a worth wild price. Bottle line , to insure 20k it cost 30 bucks a month( with my plan, and it varies) .. So it sucks to do the leg work but is worth it in the end. Just a heads up if anyone else was wondering the bottom line. Thats my out come.
