There is NOTHING wrong with stopping a mass-murderer. I understand not wanting to celebrate the death of a person, but such actions are unfortunately often a necessity. His victims and their families deserve justice, and justice has been done.

A part of me is glad that he is dead, even though it is wrong to celebrate the death of any person. However mostly I am just saddened that it took 10 years, 2 wars, thousands of U.S. Military, Allied and Civilian lives and several trillion dollars of tax payer money in order to get it done.

I know he needed to pay for the crime he orchestrated, but in the end it just doesn't seem worth it.

I totally see your point. I have torn opinions of all this. But yeah, I would've see a more appropriate measure would have been to make him suffer and die in prison. But then again, the whole "eye for an eye" comes into play and if I were a victim's family member, I'd wish the ladder.

If they arrest him he gains influence and notoriety and inspires even more extremism, and then the cities and countries where they keep him and try him for his crimes live in fear and suffer from more terrorist attacks. Like it or not, killing him truly was the only option. Obama knew that going in, which why it was a kill mission and not a capture mission. Further, I am quite sure Bin Laden had no intention of being taken alive, so the point is moot. I agree that the war in Iraq was unnecessary and irrelevant to the war on terror. Afghanistan is a trickier situation, as it was essentially a terror breeding ground. Nonetheless, there needed (and needs) to be an exit date, as there comes a time when we have to let it go because we can't and shouldn't rule their country. There is no doubt that these wars were and are about a lot more than Osama Bin Laden, but his elimination is definitely justice.

One thing is for sure is that SEAL team 6 is hardcore, dude was going down guns blazing one way or another and it's pretty crazy they executed their mission unscathed. I'm leery of the aftermath of all this. In a perfect world these terror cells would just fade away, unfortunately I don't think that'll be the case.
