Since this was retail release was based on pre-orders. What's the edition size?

Matte sofubi is pretty rare, i wonder why that is? Is it a different process or just a diff version of the plastic? Any knowledge ferg? If not ill ask mr rook

The vinyl is the same..i'ts the molds that make the difference. Normally the copper molds are buttery smooth like the surface of the wax they were made from. These molds were sandblasted to get this matte look.

^ ahh-HA! I knew it must be something in the process, thank you for that crucial info. Still makes me wonder no one really does it however? maybe just tradition for some but for others possibly to simply make a visual difference between sofubi and the cheaper chinese factory matte vinyl most art toys are made of? Because in the reverse up until more recently there were few gloss or shiny designer art toys. Im just spitballing...

I for one cant wait to have the contrast of the matte against the rest of the glossy gohsts

"Chinese vinyl" is just as glossy if the molds are polished. ..I could show you some test pulls that I have that you would think were sofubi.

You might also be interested to know that Kobasol (sofubi / "japanese vinyl") is made in China.

Actually i know that. I wasnt hatin on anything, i own chinese factory processed vinyl thats looks nearly identicalto sofubi. im just talking trends: western vinyl tends to be matte and sofubi, gloss and just pondering why that has evolved. I loved the matte gohsts immediately because i just dont see it that often.
