Polyester resin
Has anyone used polyester resin?
Or know of any other good casting resin to use for figures that might be cheaper than castin craft? I am also wondering what a good molding material would be.

That's funny I just picked up the starter mixers yesterday.
Thank you
Re: Polyester resin
There are so many nuances when working with resin. It's pretty self explanatory. Go to smoothon or reynolds YouTube channel and you should be fine. Let me know if you need help

Re: Polyester resin
I will
I'm not doing anything major yet, gonna make some full size models of my custom knives as art pieces then shrink them down to fit for the regular sized Squadt's.
Thank you again, much appreciated.

Re: Polyester resin
I've used shrink-it before. Works pretty good. There is some warping, its not 100% accurate as far as shrinking rates go and takes a couple of weeks to completely shrink. Once it shrinks your going to have to make a throw away mold to be able to fill in the bubbles it leaves behind. I was over all really happy with the results though

Re: Polyester resin
How are the bubbles fixable?
I don't really understand what you mean by making a throw away mold to fill them in..

Re: Polyester resin
so you start with the original mold at the original size, then you cast it with the shrink it. When the cast completely shrinks you make another mold of the shrunken size (This will be the mold you would eventually discard). Then you would make resin cast using the mold at the shrunken size. The cast will have holes that you would fill in using polymer or epoxy clay, sand it, prime it and make a mold of this one.

Nice, it seems effective I'm researching where to get some, I'll post in a month or however long it takes me to get the desired product finished. Thank you

Have you guys had experience with rendering sketches into 3D,
also am looking at doing a quick run of vinyl toys, am wondering if
people have had any experience with a specific manufacturer or
experience with alibaba.com
I am going to pursue some other threads and if need be make another
thread.
Thanks!~
