He will get over it.
My two old cats (before they died) used to meow incessantly. One would sit in front of th door and whine to be let out, and when iI say whine I mean one long loud meow that I once timed at 1min 37sec from start to finish. Over and over and over and over and ove again until someone opened the door.
My other cat, his brother, had the single loudest meow I have ever heard on a cat. If he was inside the house with all of the windows closed and I was outside, I could clearly hear it if he was meowing anywhere inside the house. He used to meow if he was hungry, or wanted to go outside, or if you just happened to be sitting in the chair he wanted to use...
By comparison my current cat's meows are sad wimpy things.

Re: My cat has gone deaf.
When I was in high school, the family dog went blind and deaf. It was really sad to see it happen. It made me not want to have another dog for a really long time. It was nearly 15yrs before I got another one. Granted it wasn't on purpose. It was a surprise for my wife from my mother-in-law. The little monster popped out of a box on Christmas morning. I named her Pandora. So far she's lived up to her name too!

His yowl is so loud that, with the windows open, you can hear it from half a block away. He's not showing any signs of aging other than that. He doesn't yowl for anything in particular, he just does it for funi think.

Haha, will do. It's funny, though, he doesn't howl for any particular reason. Whether I let him on the porch, feed him treats etc. he just yowls! All good though, I love him just the same. He will be my alarm clock.

Coincidentally my cat does the exact same thing. Lets off some random blood curdling howls every now and then, bless him ..

It's maddening, but he's my cat so I put up with it. At least he doesn't piss on anything.
