crimson Chipp 002 edition

I was debating whether or not to use midnight jack for painting, but my gf suggested we use chipp 002. So far the paint came out really smooth and soft, heres some work in progress pics. Still got the suit, arms and rocket launcher to finish

semi finished, debating on the eyes now. White wouldnt look to bad, or black.. might keep it red or go back to the orginal orange.
need to finish spraying the jacket to get an over all even finish but hes looking good.. Handsome little devil

fyi, i think you can pop the eyes out.

its called aero color, high pigment liquid acrylic. Hmm never knew you could pop the eyes out, im gonna try it out. Right now hes pretty glossy, im gonna use a matte finish to make him like the other guys. Im really digging him though now, the red is a big improvement over the blue i think.

The clothes are not stiff?

You could try to find some translucent red paint, like the kind used to make fake "stained glass."
Keeping the translucency would be cooler than making them completely opaque if you can avoid it.

And yes you can pop the eyes out. its easier before you paint the head tho, you can actually push on the inside of the helmet and make them pop out in mos cases. Once I had to use a thick sewing needle to get behind it (without scratching the edge) and pop it out that way.

Did you paint the clothes? I woulda suggested going at them with some crimson (or black) RIT Dye which is cheap, and can be found almost anywhere (grocery stores, Walmart, etc). The colors are very vivid and its pretty easy to use.

BTW, whats going on with the Sqwert?

The jacket has the same paint as the helment, i just used a very low pressure far away to keep giving it coats. That way it stays soft to the touch, if it gets rough i can remove the paint pretty easily.

The sqwert was my test subject before the squadt, but now that hes painted i might as well do something with him. Just sucks i dont have an oven here so if i sculpt anything it'll take like a week before i can go to someones house who has one

I made it back to the orginal orange, im probably not gonna switch his eyes with a different squadts since im limited. So far i have 3 midnights, 1 nozzel 002 and the red chip 002. The blue i dont think would look good and dont want to mess with my midnights lol.

There is a product called Magic Sculp that would probably work perfectly for you. It is a two part epoxy that air dries and is worked and feels just like fine grained clay. It is smoothed and softened with water and dried to a hard (like rock) . I got my supply of ebay (do a search for Magic Sculp) but it has been becoming available from more sources recently like here.

Im gonna do alittle pic update tonight, and the sqwert is well on the way now. Finally decided what im gonna do, should be a pretty slimy and twisted custom

Hey fender, how about painting Chipp's eyes white? I think that would look really awesome!

I might switch to white when the equipment pacs come out since they have eyes in them. The painted over look doesnt come off that great.

Pop the eyes out and you should be able to paint the backsides with some translucent paint similar to this one here.

Im sorry, not my fave custom squadt. Seems cursory. I dont think painting the clothes was the best idea, they look well like they have paint on em and its not very uniform. Next time try a fabric dye instead. GL.

yeah the clothes went bad when i tried spray paint, it was going pretty well with the airbrush till i rain out of liquid red paint. But the custom was just meant to please my own desire of a red squadt. Wasnt really trying to get fancy or anything, the next squadt i do will be more to my art style.
