You may have that experience with other shops, but Rotofugi does NOT make money on their shipping fees. Kirby and Whitney are friends of mine, and I see the kind of hard work they put into their store. They bend over backwards for their customers and do everything they can to accommodate them.
If you need to hear it from Kirby himself, he discusses it on the KR boards here
Regarding customs value, here's the information straight from Rotofugi's website:
"We're very, very sorry, but we just can't do that. Falsely filling out customs forms is against the law here in the states, and we like to stay on the good side of our government lest they put the smackdown on us. We do, however, mark all packages with a value that is equal, more or less, to the legal replacement value of the goods rather than the retail pricing, so that should help a little."
Okay, back to the Squadts!
Since you are a friend of Kirby and Whitney you can buy the stuff for us and send it marked as gift and with low value
Back to Squadts
Good point

I still think it's not any breakage of the law, you can write whatever price you want in the invoice. You are not paying any taxes from that price, this price is just for recipients country's customs. Nobody will judge for you it..and this has no effect on USA whatsoever, only effect is that recipients country's customs will receive less money in taxes.
End of OT for me. Sorry Ferg and everybody...

Re: NKD Squadts
if the package gets lost, the sender and recipient are both fucked. its basically he said she said, and if the value is set as $20 they insurance will not cover a $300 purchase. etc.
imho, i always do what the buyer asks, so if they want to take the risk, its fine w me. i understand customs are a bitch.

I have to pay 21% VAT on mentioned price + shipping and 5% import tax. So let's say..toy is listed for 100$ and shipping says - 50$...they adding 100 + 50 = 150$ , then they are doing exchange rate from USD to Latvian lats..we will not do that here..let's do VAT and Import tax. 150$ *21% = 31,50$ , 5% import tax = 7,50$..so this toy will actually cost for me 100$ + 50$ (overseas shipping) + 39$ (taxes)...in comparison with lucky USA citizens, who pay 15$ shipping most (or free shipping when they are buying from USA stores, I'm talking here about small sized toys, not something huge and heavy like KAWS 4ft or Coarsetoys Chopper/Pain)..guys from Europe are constantly overpaying for their toys.
Sorry again Ferg and Squadt lovers. No more from me on the subject I tell ya, honest word of a vampire!

Come on, Gimby! Let's think about this. If falsifying customs records would benefit them and the customer and it was legal, why wouldn't they do it???!!!?? They don't do it for fear of the legal ramifications and penalties.
Okay, rant over.
