I was thinking along these same lines to hide the wires.
Another reason I don't like the KLINGSBO is that the legs flair out at the bottom, which would make it hard to put several cases next to each other in a small space. I also wasn't happy with the $130 (twice the cost of the Detolf) price tag, but if the Detolf is really gone I might end up getting a couple of KLINGSBO's

It's kind of in flux, at the moment. I've been trying to get around to putting up new shelves, because I'm running out of floor space. In the event I get a few more detolfs I'll set a few up horizontally on top of the others.

BTW, I have 3 empty Detolfs that I want to sell. 2 black and 1 white. I probably will have to craigslist them, but if anyone lives in or close to NC you could come pick them up - in the mountains about 2 hours from Charlotte.

Yeah I'm with you on that. I think a lot of people are under that impression because they're sold out at a lot of locations, but that's just Ikea. The hot items go FAST, and sometimes it just takes a while for them to restock.

I own detolfs that I purchased from people who were moving, but I've never really bought anything from IKEA before. I see that they have a Billy with glass door, but it's not clear like yours. The one on the website has some art on it. Can you request clear glass at IKEA?
