442nd Regimental Combat Team

Quick backstory, made VERY short.

WW2, U.S.A. locked Japanese Americans in camps. The 442nd is a group of Japanese American soldiers who fought for the country that was locking away their families. They fought with an unparalleled sense of dedication. They are one of the most highly decorated U.S. military units in history. (even though, most of them did not get their honors until 20-30 years later, due to discrimination)

So why the post about them? I'm on my way to volunteer for an event for some veterans of the 442. I feel very fortunate to give back. I barely did anything to help out my Grandfather's Pearl Harbor Survivor group, so this is like a second chance for me.

I appreciate the praise, but there's really NOTHING I, or any of us can do to pay them back for what they did and what they went through. Even my own service was NOT enough. There were some very touching parts of the 2 programs today. It was great sharing the day with my lady and our kids.
