What Storage Do You Use?
I see a lot of great shelves, cases and cubes. What do you suggest to get for a new collector? Right now all my Squadts are still in their boxes, and am interested in putting them on display. What do you suggest? Don't forget to link up where you got it/them.
Thanks in advance!

Re: What Storage Do You Use?
The general consensus is that if you have an Ikea near you, you cannot beat a Detolf case. It is glass on all four sides, pretty sturdy and pretty cheap at around $60. If you do not have access to an Ikea (like me) you could use just about any shelf, but you will have to deal with the dust if it is open to the air.
My relatively cheap solution was to take a DVD Shelf that I got at Walmart for $30 and front it with plexiglass from Home Depot using some self-stick velcro tabs like so:
I think it looks pretty good, and after a few months no noticeable dust has gotten inside. Also you can get plexi that is UV resistant (most of them are except the cheapest) to help prevent your toys from fading or discoloring over time. Of course keep them away fro direct sunlight but in many cases normal house lighting can cause fading over a long enough time period. Plexiglass (over standard glass) will help prevent this from happening.

Haven't really thought about a budget. Just wanted to see what was available and then go from there. Thanks for the great suggestions so far, checking out the Ikea options and also thinking about what I can throw together myself. Right now I display them on top of this http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/40047675 was kind of looking for a plexi/glass case that I could set up on top of it.

Re: What Storage Do You Use?
I am close to an Ikea (30 minutes or so). Here's the Klingsbo cases in my living to compliment the contemporary furnishing.
Tall ones are $119 x 2 and the middle low case $129 (these cases only have like 10" tall clearance per shelf)
...and of course my wall of Detolfs in the bed room.
Detolf $60 x 5

@Mendez In your opinion how does the Deltof work laying on its side like you have it in the second photo? That would be how I would use it, on the Ikea site it didn't look like it was meant to be used in that fashion so I have stayed away.

on top of 4 others with foam/cardboard reinforcement (4" x 4" squares) on top of each tower for glass pressure, make a solid wall. Even stabilizes the 4 below. It all depend on what you're going to show in it.

Re: What Storage Do You Use?
It is looking like that is the way I will go, I guess my only concern is using it horizontally. Don't have enough room in the apartment for the vertical display.
However for the price, if it doesn't work out, no harm no foul really.

Maybe I should suggest this to the Swedish Academy
Re: What Storage Do You Use?
my biggest pain is storing the boxes.....ugh!! Shit takes up some serious square feet.
Re: What Storage Do You Use?
Box storage is a fucking nightmare. I have no storage area in my apartment. Thankfully the toy room has a closet, but it is dangerously close to capacity. It's been like playing Tetris for the past year or so.
