even though i scratch my head as to why the nhl placed teams in the south,

I kind of find it hard to back either party really. I understand both points of view, no doubt certain things need to change for both parties, but I just don't think the legal route is the way to roll and it just seemed that was De Smiths plan all along...who knows

Man, I love football. I will die if there isn't a season. But if you really follow the arguments, the players are definitely in the right. The owners are raking in the billions, and they say they aren't, and they want more out of the players but don't want to compensate them. The owners claim they are paying "stadium upkeep" expenses even though there are plenty of public records that prove that the TAXPAYERS are the ones paying for the stadiums and their upkeep. The owners claim they are hurting, and the players say "okay, show us your books so we know you are telling the truth." Of course, the owners are lying, so they won't open their books. It's standard bullshit. The players have agreed to certain concessions which make sense, such as rookie salaries and whatnot. It comes down to Big guy/little guy bullshit.

I'm the first one to agree that sports stars are often way overpaid. But if the owners are gonna make billions, then the players deserve their fair share of that $9,000,000,000 pie.

Yeah, i'm split on the whole thing. Both parties have contributed to this mess, crappy move on the owners with all the last minute offers and kind of a sham move on the players breaking up the union.

Sports franchises are tricky, I mean it's still a business in which the players are employees of the teams, players generate the income for their team or company much like most of us do with our everyday jobs, it's just all of their grievances are public. And that public opinion carries a lot of weight.
