I used to love this kind of music, but these days I can only take screamo bands in small doses. I get where this genre came from but but geez this is one case where a particular genre of music eventually does sound all alike. Recently there has been a lot of imitation and little innovation.
Besides its hard to pull any meaning out of their socially charged music video if I can't understand a damn thing the singer is saying.
never heard of these guys... i dig 'em.
not to start a whole genre debate, cuz i hate labeling things... but sometimes its helpful. i almost didn't listen to this 'cuz you called 'em "screamo." this is hardly "screamo" to me... way more metal or death metal or grindcore. i don't listen to much metal anymore... but this is good stuff.
Re: Music Thread
i don't even know what screamo is but i know its not that death/grindcore id say if i was to label it. But to each their own on taste of music.

Love metal, hate when they "sing" like that. I've been listening to Slipknot's newest lately
Also, if you guys haven't downloaded Them Crooked Vultures' debut cd yet, do it now. Good shit.

Not really "screamo" true. I was more referring to the way the song it sung. Tho elements of the video certainly come off as emo (black crows spewing blood? "The Crow" eye makeup?) and the singer does scream his lines Anyway, that style was mostly called screamo back when I lost interest in that branch of the musical tree, what its called now...?
Mainly my point is I like to hear what the singer has to say. I wanna know what the lyrics are without having to read the liner notes, and I am past the phase in my life where loud angry-sounding music with fast, rapidly shifting tempos are enough to get my blood pumping. But everyone likes something different and life is too short not to enjoy what you like

i'm with you on the lyric tip!
for me... i don't always agree with what bands like this have to say and don't really care the voice is more like another instrument... which this guy does well. but i can only take death metal and grindcore in small doses... veeeery small.
this, on the other hand, is all around awesomenessssss! killer mermaids! boobies!

Re: Music Thread
I used to hate slipknot but after i sat down and listened to the music(long time ago), they are talented, the drummer is nasty..i mostly listen to old school hardcore(mid 90's) and death metal so the vocals are normal to me. On another note, Dethklok is the shit ,m pissed i didn't get to go see the show they played with soilent green and converge in NY. fuck work

Re: Music Thread
I've been on a Naked Raygun kick lately. I haven't really listened to these guys since high school. A buddy made me a copy of the "Understand" LP, and now I remember why I like them so much. Good shit!
Re: Music Thread
Oh, man!! That is a great fucking record. "Treason" alone makes it worth the purchase. I love "All Rise" and "Jettison" the best, but really they are all good except for "Raygun... Naked Raygun." Wasn't so much into that one.

I miss that band. Their live shows were always a hell of a good time!
Just got to see them a few weeks ago in Austin (@SXSW). I forgot just how much fun their live shows are.

How is that album? Personally, the last album I like was Mezzanine. Just not the same since Mushroom left.

For me, there's only one band....Clutch. if you like rock, then you'll love Clutch.
I used to be really into the metal scene but as I got closer to 30, my tastes changed. Still love some metal but I find myself liking old people music too like Gordon Lightfoot. Can't be a scene kid forever.
