Goof Off advice

Word to the wise- Goof Off is GREAT at taking the paint off a BUD. But, do not submerge your BUD in the stuff and forget about it overnight. The plastic will expand and become gelatinous. Pics to come.

lol, that was a pretty disgusting scene... He was like Jabba the Hut crossed with Slimer but made entirely out of shit.

Goof off is too strong, it removes the paint unevenly. Get a paper towel and moisten it with 100% acetone an just slowly rub the BUD. It'll come off even.

ok, so I disassembled a Bombfish and dumped him in a mason jar of Goof Off


after a little bit of swirling the paint started to come off nicely


after a bit longer it was coming off really nicely


after about 12 hours though, things were looking grim


and here are the mushy results

i'm melting

thats pretty messed up....

Haha, yeah it does! That goof off is some serious shit.

if i remember right, goof off has acetone in it. that's what ate your bud. pure acetone would have done so a lot faster.

any such stripping agent should be used sparingly, on vinyl especially. if you use acetone on vinyl be sure to rinse it off. the vinyl can seep into the tiny pores in the vinyl and slowly eat it or cause problems later on with the paint. i do my best to stay away from it all together. just get some fine grit sandpaper and some automotive primer

Always picking on the poor killfish. We hardly knew ye. One day I will open a ranch where all the killfish that people try and paint over can roam free.
